Features

From the first inquiry to a compliant invoice, and everything in between.

One page, one module at a time: pipeline, CVs and profiles, invoicing and e-invoicing, time tracking, German travel expenses, encrypted documents, contacts, inbox, the public API and MCP server, and how it grows from you alone into a team.

Pipeline

Every deal, staged the way your team actually works.

A project board built for winning and running work, not a generic sales pipeline. Stages are yours to define, the board tells you whose turn it is, and nothing gets lost once a gig is won.

  • Configurable stages per team, with your own colors and ordering
  • A board with pinned stage headers and full height lanes
  • Attention flags: waiting on you, overdue, gone quiet
  • Archive, activities and tasks, tied to every project
The Steerd project board with every gig in the lanes Lead, In Discussion, Proposal, Negotiation, Won and Lost, each card naming the client, the contact and the deal value
A card on the Steerd board with an amber warning icon and a tooltip reading Task overdue
CVs & profiles

A profile engine, not a Word document.

Tailor a pitch-ready CV per gig in minutes, in a real theme system rather than a template you fight with. Every version stays on record, so you always know exactly what you sent.

  • Eleven designer themes, versioned
  • AI-assisted import from an existing CV
  • PDF export, plus an editable Word (.docx) export
  • JSON Resume compatible, with saved color presets
  • Anonymized or blind CV, A4 or US Letter, adjustable font scale
The Steerd CV editor: the theme, colors and layout controls on the left, a live preview of the finished CV with photo, profile, skills and work history on the right
Invoicing

Invoices your accountant signs off on.

A full invoice lifecycle with a live preview that is the actual PDF, not a mockup of one. Sequential numbering, the mandatory fields, and corrections done properly.

  • Live PDF preview that is the exact document you send
  • Per line VAT and EU reverse charge, derived automatically
  • Kleinunternehmer treatment under § 19
  • Corrections as a real Rechnungskorrektur, not a Gutschrift
  • Sequential numbering, retained the way § 14b requires
The Steerd invoice editor: numbered line items with quantity, unit price and VAT rate on the left, a live PDF preview of the finished invoice on the right
The tax verdict on a Steerd invoice: reverse charge, your client accounts for the VAT, derived from the client country rather than typed in
E-invoicing

Two profiles. One PDF/A-3b hybrid, checked in our build.

Steerd emits e-invoices in the two profiles that matter in Germany: a ZUGFeRD-style hybrid carrying EN 16931 data, and XRechnung for public sector recipients. Each one is a single PDF/A-3b hybrid file, so a person sees a normal PDF while the recipient's software reads the embedded XML. For XRechnung the standalone XML is the legally operative document and the PDF is the human readable copy, so that XML downloads on its own too. Steerd works out whether a given invoice needs to be an e-invoice; you can always override that call.

  • Two profiles: a ZUGFeRD-style EN 16931 hybrid, and XRechnung for public sector clients
  • One PDF/A-3b hybrid: a human reads the PDF, software reads the embedded XML
  • For XRechnung, the standalone XML is the legally operative document and downloads on its own
  • Checked in our build against the pinned KoSIT rule set (validator-configuration-xrechnung v2026-01-31, XRechnung 3.0.2) and veraPDF, a build gate, not a per-invoice promise
  • Steerd derives whether an invoice must be an e-invoice, and you can override it
  • The invoice list marks exactly which documents are e-invoices
The deadlines, the profiles, and the exemptions
A finalized Steerd invoice marked Open, carrying a ZUGFeRD chip, with buttons to download the PDF or the e-invoice XML and the invoice itself rendered below
A Steerd invoice number with an Open status next to it and a ZUGFeRD chip marking it as an e-invoice
Time tracking

Hours that turn straight into an invoice.

Log billable time against a project, see it by week or by month, and know at a glance what has not been billed yet. No spreadsheet, no retyping the hours into a second tool.

  • Week grid by project, plus a month view
  • An unbilled view: exactly which hours have not gone on an invoice yet
  • Log time and turn it straight into an invoice
  • Exports led by PDF, matching the rest of your documents
A week of tracked time in Steerd: hours logged day by day against two projects, every entry with what was done, and the week total in the corner
Travel expenses

German per diems, worked out properly.

The statutory German per diem rules, including foreign rates, applied automatically to an itinerary rather than left for you to look up. A sealed report is the document you hand to your accountant.

  • German per diem rule packs, including foreign rates
  • Itinerary and meal handling that reduces the per diem automatically
  • VAT deductibility derived, so a sealed report states Vorsteuer correctly
  • Sealed reports as PDF, pushed straight to an invoice
  • Period CSV export, plus a public read API and MCP read tools
The Steerd travel expense editor: the trip details and the itinerary on the left, a live preview of the German expense report with its per diems, overnight stays and receipts on the right
One day of a Steerd business trip: the full statutory per diem struck through and reduced to 22.40 euros because the hotel served breakfast
Documents

An encrypted vault, not a folder of PDFs.

Contracts, receipts, and every document a gig produces, encrypted per team and searchable by filename, with previews good enough that you rarely need to download the original.

  • Per team vault with envelope encryption
  • Filename search across everything stored
  • Rich in browser previews, including ICS, VCF, Markdown and CSV
  • A rendered and a raw view for every preview
The Steerd document vault: encrypted files filed as contract, invoice, receipt, travel report or e-invoice XML, each with its size, who uploaded it and when
Contacts

One contact model, synced to your phone.

Clients and the people at them, with the detail a real relationship needs, kept in sync with the address book you already carry around.

  • Multiple phone numbers, emails, socials and addresses per contact
  • Archive and search across your whole contact base
  • Two way CardDAV sync, so contacts live in your phone's own address book
A Steerd contact list of clients and recruiters, each with a photo, a job title, the company they work for, an email address and a phone number
Two Steerd contacts, each with a photo, a name, a job title and a primary contact badge
Inbox

An inquiry becomes a client with one click.

Connect the inbox you already check. A new inquiry does not have to be retyped into the pipeline by hand.

  • Connect Gmail
  • Connect any IMAP inbox
  • Turn an inquiry into a client, a contact and a project with one click
API & MCP

Every screen has a script behind it.

A real public API, not a partner integration you have to ask for, plus an MCP server so an AI assistant can read and act on your data with the same permissions a person would have.

  • REST and GraphQL public API, with API keys and OAuth
  • An MCP server with both read and write tools
  • RBAC with permission grants and access scopes
  • Every invoice, document, team and key change lands in an audit log
  • Public documentation at docs.steerd.io
Teams & billing

It grows from one person into a team.

Start solo. The day you bring people on, the same tool adds seats, resourcing, and the margin between what you bill and what somebody costs, without a product switch.

  • Full seats and cheaper time tracking seats
  • Resourcing and assignments, each with its own rate
  • Employee cost rates, so you see the margin on every day billed
  • Stripe billing with a 30 day reverse trial that downgrades to a real free tier, never a lockout
A Steerd team list: four people, each with a photo, a job title and their skills
